Dental implant is used to replace a missing tooth and to avoid usage of a removable prosthesis.
It is an artificial tooth root from titanium, which is put in your jawbone. After a while, when the implant and the bone are connected together, a titanium pillar is screwed. Now the implant becomes a base for a porcelain crown or bridge.
At the same time, dental implant can be used as a base for a clicked prosthesis.

Dental implant is much more resistant than a tooth root. In fact, it is lifelong, once placed in the jaw, it never has to be changed. The implant also reinforces the jawbone, that means that the whole dentition becomes stronger.

Implantation procedure

First stage: diagnosis

Any interference is preceded by a detailed examination to determine the state of the bone in your jaw. This will be done through examination of your dental
x-ray, made also here at the clinic, and by visual observing of your mouth.
The dental surgeon will explain you patiently what is the current situation in your mouth and propose you possible kinds of treatment. Once you agree with the plan of treatment, we kan start with putting the implants.

Second stage: Insertion of the implant

The whole operation is made under local anaesthetic, so you will have no pain at all. First, the gum where the implant should come will be opened. Then the dental surgeon drills a little hole in the jawbone and screws the implant in the hole. Finally, the gum is sewed.
If there is not enough bone, or if it isn’t sufficiently healthy, first you may need a bone-graft which could be your own or artificial.

Altogether with the diagnosis and the operation, you will spend a few hours at the clinic, depending on your particular case. After approximately 5 days, when the final check-up is made and the threads from the gum are taken out, you can go back home.

Third stage: Heeling of the gum

After implantation, a healing period is necessary, it takes between 3 and 6 months. During this time the bone grows around and bonds to the implant's surface. The implant thus becomes firmly fixed in the jawbone. During this time, a temporary replacement solution will be made, so that you will immediately be coming home with that new smile.

Final stage: Insertion of a crown or bridge

When you come back for your second trip to finish the treatment, you will have to stay between 4 and 5 days.
The dental surgeon will reopen the gum and screw a titanium pillar into the implant to take the prints for your future crowns. After 2-3 days the porcelain crowns will be ready, and we will be able to make the first trial. It will help us to make final corrections in order to make your new teeth look perfectly.

At last the final porcelain crowns or bridges will be placed on the implants and glued with special cement.

Click prosthesis on implants

Implants can serve as well as a base for a removable click prosthesis. This treatment is applicable if many or all the teeth are gone, but your jawbone is not thick enough, or for example if you want to have a cheaper solution. A removable prosthesis does not require to be supported by many implants. Normally, the number of implants placed in the jawbone varies from 4 to 2 and depends on the situation in your mouth.

The procedure is much similar to the one described above.

After the detailed examination and the diagnosis have been made, the implants will be placed. The gum will be sewed, and after 5 days, when all the stitches are taken out, you can go back home.
